Notes
Myers will play the outfield in San Diego this year, but will carry over third base eligibility from last season, making him one of the very few options for speed at 3B. He averaged 29 home runs and 24 stolen bases between 2016 and 2017, and was on pace to again go 20-20 last year if not for missing nearly half the season due to a host of different injuries. You can't expect Myers to do much better than his .253 career batting average, but his combination of power and speed makes him a sneaky contender to finish as a top-12 third baseman in roto/categories leagues if he can stay healthy.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Batting average tends to be an underrated ability in fantasy baseball, and that is an area in which Brantley excels. But durability is also an underrated commodity, and that has been Brantley downfall for big chunks of his career. If Brantley can just manage to stay healthy, he should be able to contribute enough balanced production across all five roto categories to be a valuable third outfielder in mixed leagues.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
After seemingly shredding the injury-prone designation with two fully healthy seasons, Myers' 2018 kept stalling due to separate oblique and foot injuries. He followed 28/28 and 30/20 campaigns with 11 homers and 13 steals in 83 games, so it's easy to envision a 20/20 rebound if healthy. Myers also added third-base eligibility to his portfolio, making him an intriguing bounce-back pick often available around pick 100.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Just as everyone gave up on the oft-injured Brantley, he returned from a significant ankle injury to bat .309/.364/.468 with 17 homers and 12 steals in 631 plate appearances. No qualified hitter made more contact (90.9%) than the 31-year-old outfielder, whose 9.5% strikeout rate finished second after Andrelton Simmons. His skill set is likely to get undervalued by drafters seeking flashier power or speed, and he could easily score 100+ runs in the Astros slot him atop their lineup. Health is the only concern.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Myers is commonly thought of as injury prone and last year's 79 missed games certainly doesn't help. With that said, he averages 23 homers and 20 steals over the last three years even despite last year's disappointing season. There is major upside here even though his batting average is almost certain to stay under .260 again.
