Yoan Moncada is going to have a high BABIP, but a .406 BABIP even for Moncada is high, and it's a big reason for his .315 batting average in 2019, which is the clear outlier of his albeit young career so far. Moncada saw his strikeout rate go down in 2019 to 27.5%, but his walk rate also decreased from 2018. For a player who has a 70 speed tool, his high for steals in a season in the big leagues is 12. The way the White Sox are with their approach to steals is a reason that you shouldn't expect Moncada, Luis Robert, or Tim Anderson to carry you in those categories. At a deep position, you can easily pivot away from Moncada at this price point.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Is it really hard to make a case against Jonathan Villar in 2020? I mean, we were fooled just a few years ago with Villar, and he was the biggest bust in fantasy the following year. Why are we doing it again? Sure, he gives you speed, but there's nothing else that you can really bank on. The ballpark change is tough, and if Villar can't adjust in the outfield, he could just be an over-hyped utility-man.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
The former top overall prospect had a heck of a season in 2019 but his .400 BABIP is almost certainly not going to repeat in 2020. Even still, this young stud has room for more growth and could provide 30 homers plus 10 steals for fantasy owners.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Villar is moving from a great hitter's park to one of the worst but we are still talking about someone who went 24/40 homers/steals with 111 runs and a .273 batting average. There is some risk, as we saw in the 2017 disappointment
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Moncada has imperfections but I can't help but dream on the tools. He is a physical freak with flaws that have prevented him from fully realizing his ability. I will continue to push him higher up my rankings than others do until I finally no longer can justify doing it. 2B/3B eligibility in leagues where he qualifies that way makes it that much easier to buy into the upside.
Chris Mitchell - FantasyData
Batted over 700(!!) times last season playing half his games in Camden. He moves from one of the best hitter parks to one of the worst. The 24 HRs should drop back down to 15 or so and another 40 steal season would shock me. This guy has been cut multiple times and a 260/12/25 line would not shock me at all. I am letting someone else take the plunge with Villar.
Michael Petropoulos - BRoto Fantasy
High upside pick, well worth his ADP. Broke out last season and is still only 24 years old. Has good a shot as anyone to jump into the top two rounds next season.
Michael Petropoulos - BRoto Fantasy
Should run just as much in Miami as he did in Baltimore. But change of scenery brings risk
Brendan Tuma - BettingPros
Took a major step forward in 2019. Still just 24 years old.
