Carlos Gonzalez a priority for the Rockies

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Jan 10th 9:29pm EST

Carlos Gonzalez is set to be a free agent after the 2017 season and would be one of the top players on the market next season. Gonzalez is due to make $20 million this season, but the Rockies are looking to lock up the 31-year-old. He had an .855 OPS and 100 RBI last season. (Denver Post)

Fantasy Impact:

While the Rockies are looking to lock in Gonzalez and his 100 RBI season was only the second of his career, he tailed off severely at the end of 2016. After posting a .924 OPS in his All-Star first half, he only had six home runs and a .761 OPS in the second half. Gonzalez's injury history and the fact that he only has two seasons with a .900 OPS over his eight full seasons should make him more like a strong OF2 than a mid-range OF1.
