Sergio Romo drawing interest from a few teams

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Jan 31st 7:10pm EST

Sergio Romo looks close to signing with a team before Spring Training, with the Mets and Nationals lobbying for his signature. Romo has closer experience, but has not been a closer for the last two seasons and could be an option for the Nationals. He had a 2.64 ERA in 40 appearances last season with the Giants. Fantasy Impact:

While the Mets would use Romo as a setup man for Jeurys Familia, the Nationals have an unsettled situation at closer. Shawn Kelley appears to be first in line for saves, but Romo saved 38 games in his All-Star 2013 season and has a 2.58 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in his career. While his numbers look good, Romo did have a 3.72 ERA in his last season as a closer (2014) and lost the closer's role to Santiago Casilla.
