Kyle Zimmer should be good to go for Spring Training

Kyle Zimmer, the former #3 pick for the Royals, missed the 2016 season with thoracic outlet syndrome, but should be good to go for 2017. While Zimmer would not be a part of the Opening Day roster, being a big part of the Triple-A Omaha team in the first half is a reasonable goal. He had surgery in August after undergoing elbow and shoulder surgery (2012 and 2014) and being shut down with a strained latissimus dorsi muscle in his back in 2015. (Kansas City Star)

Fantasy Impact:

A first-round pick in the 2012 draft, Zimmer has surpassed 70 innings pitched just once, throwing a career-high 108 1/3 innings in 2013. The tragic loss of Yordano Ventura has left a huge hole at the top of the Royals' rotation and a good beginning of the 2017 minor league season could land Zimmer in the MLB rotation. He has a 3.24 ERA in 222 1/3 career minor league innings, striking out 10.9 batters per nine innings.
