David Price working on command for 2017

David Price had a strong 2016 season with the Red Sox by most player's standards, but feels like more command of his fastball will take him to the next level. Price's 2016 season ended on the sourest of notes after lasting only four innings against the Indians in the ALDS and feels like a renewed trust in his fastball will get him back to ace status in 2017. He was 17-9 with 228 strikeouts in 2016. (Providence Journal)
Fantasy Impact:
No one would normally complain about 17 wins and 228 strikeouts that ranked fourth in the American League, but his 6.75 ERA over his first seven starts saw his season ERA balloon to 3.99. Referring to his issues with his fastball, opposing hitters had slugged .361 and .343 off his four-seam fastball and two-seam fastball, respectively, the season before he came to Boston. They slugged .452 and .460 off those two pitches, respectively, in his first season in Boston, leading to most of his issues earlier in the season. While it is difficult to overlook 2016, Price never had posted an ERA over 3.50 in a season prior to 2016 and has averaged 241 strikeouts per season over the last three seasons.
