Jacoby Ellsbury arrives to camp after birth of second child

by Chris Zolli | Wed, Feb 22nd 7:57am EST

Jacoby Ellsbury showing up late to training camp usually is a bad sign, as he is injury prone, but he was late in 2017 because of the birth of his 2nd child. Ellsbury is coming off of his third straight disappointing season with the Yankees, seeing his stolen bases drop for the fourth straight season to only 20 in 2016. He had a .703 OPS in 2016. Fantasy Impact:

Ellsbury has been a huge bust for the Yankees and New York is looking to recoup some value from the player that stole 52 bases in 2013 and was a 32 home run/39 stolen base player in 2011. He had a bit of a mulligan for 2015, as he only played 111 games, but Ellsbury played 148 games last season and had his lowest stolen base total of his career. Betting on a 33-year-old to regain his power and speed is not a bet that is smart and Clint Frazier might be the safest bet for the Yankees' future in CF for dynasty leagues.
