Yu Darvish has moderate success in spring debut

by Steve Painter | Padres Correspondent | Sun, Feb 26th 9:41pm EST

Yu Darvish went 1 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday before hitting his pitch limit and he said he felt good and that his location for his fastball was close to where he wants it. Amazingly, he didn't throw any sliders, though. Today, he also experimented with a split-finger, which he threw six times but discovered it needed more work with command/control. Darvish's fastball maxed out at 96 mph, a nice sign. He threw 36 pitches, earned the win, allowed one hit and two walks while striking out two.

Fantasy Impact:

If he can get his split-finger developed well, his workload will be more manageable and he can pitch deeper into games which would benefit his team significantly. Keep an eye on Darvish.
