CC Sabathia allows three baserunners in his first Spring start

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Mar 7th 6:49pm EST

CC Sabathia allowed two hits and one walk over two scoreless innings against the Rays on Tuesday. Sabathia also struck out two batters and looks like he is going to be behind Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda in the Yankees rotation. He was 9-12 with a 3.91 ERA last season.

Fantasy Impact:

Sabathia has seen his ERA, WHIP, H/9, and HR/9 drop over the last three seasons, but has also seen his K/9 drop and BB/9 rise over the same time period. He working on being more of a finesse pitcher, but if he can get close to 200 innings pitched, he can be effective. Even if Sabathia is effective, striking out less batters makes him less attractive for fantasy purposes.
