Justin Verlander throws four scoreless innings on Monday

Justin Verlander went 4.1 IP on Monday against the Nationals, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk. He struck out four.

Fantasy Impact:

This was Verlander's best showing so far this spring, as he entered today's contest having allowed four runs in seven IP (4:5 K:BB). After a disappointing 2014 and an injury-shortened 2015, Verlander finally returned to form in 2016. He 3.04 ERA was his best since 2012 (2.64), and his 10.04 K/9 was his best since 2009 (10.09). His return to dominance came when he learned to pitch with his diminished velocity, as well as throwing his change-up less and his slider more. Assuming he maintains these changes, Verlander is an easy top-10 SP, and you should feel comfortable with him as your No.1 SP in any format.
