Chi Chi Gonzalez suffers partial tear of UCL

by Steve Painter | Fri, Mar 17th 7:28pm EDT

Chi Chi Gonzalez, who was vying for a spot in the Rangers starting rotation, has suffered a partial tear of his UCL. He will receive a PRP injection and be shut down for six weeks. No plans for TJ surgery at this time. (Evan Grant on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The Rangers are hoping to find some help in the rotation with Tyson Ross and Andrew Cashner both unable to start the season with the team. The competition is now between A.J Griffin, Mike Hauschild, Dillon Gee, Allen Webster, Eddie Gamboa, and Nick Martinez to fill the two spots to start the season. Cashner is not expected to be out very long but Ross won't likely be available until at least May. None of the pitchers mentioned have had solid, consistent outings thus far this spring.
