Max Scherzer to miss opening day

Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer will miss his opening day start with a fractured finger. (csnmidatlantic.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Scherzer, regarded by most as the second best pitcher in baseball, will miss the Nationals opening day start for the first time in two years. Nationals manager Dusty Baker had stated that Scherzer will hopefully start the season as the third pitcher in the rotation. No matter what happens, Scherzer should be drafted as is. Baseball is a long season and Max shouldn't miss much time once his first start comes around. It is comforting to know that Scherzer did pitch 4.2 innings this past week striking out four and walking one while giving up five hits and two earned runs.
