Luis Severino with a great appearance

by Chris Zolli | Mets Correspondent | Sat, Mar 25th 9:29am EDT

Luis Severino was untouchable on Friday, pitching three perfect innings to earn a win against the Phillies. Severino struck out five batters against Philadelphia and induced three ground ball outs as well. He has a 3.95 ERA this Spring.

Fantasy Impact:

Any questions about Severino's spot in the rotation may have been answered yesterday, as Luis Cessa's demotion to Triple-A and Severino's outing cemented a rotation spot for the 23-year-old. The issues that Severino had in 2016 are well chronicled, but outings like this make people excited for the future. While this was a good appearance, and could be the jolt he needs coming into the 2017 season, remember that this was against the Phillies and was a relief appearance. Severino allowed one run in 23 1/3 innings as a reliever in 2016 and had a 5.27 ERA as a starter (both MLB and minor league).
