Zack Wheeler makes Mets' rotation in light of Steven Matz injury

by Nick Ritrivi | Phillies Correspondent | Thu, Mar 30th 11:00am EDT

Zack Wheeler will open the season as the Mets' fourth starter and will face the Marlins in the opening week of the 2017 season. With Steven Matz slated to begin the season on the DL, Wheeler won the fourth starting job over Seth Lugo based on his spring performance and the fact that Lugo is better geared for a bullpen role over Wheeler. Fantasy Impact:

Wheeler will have an innings limit this season around 120 IP. While Wheeler's upside will be capped due to this innings limit, assuming he can remain healthy, Wheeler offers solid ERA, Win and K potential as a late-round flier in seasonal leagues. He is certainly worth rostering in dynasty formats, particularly if he can prove that he is fully healthy in 2017 and gets his innings count up for a full 2018 season.
