CC Sabathia dominates Cardinals

by Chris Zolli | Sun, Apr 16th 8:29am EDT

CC Sabathia allowed one run on three hits in 7 1/3 innings on Saturday against the Cardinals, earning his second win of the season. Sabathia took a shutout into the 8th inning before Jedd Gyorko hit a solo home run and he struck out six batters while allowing only one walk. He has a 1.47 ERA this season and will face the Pirates in Pittsburgh on April 21.

Fantasy Impact:

Sabathia has opened the season with three consecutive quality starts and is undoubtably the best starting pitcher for the surprising Yankees, now on a six-game winning streak. He finished the 2016 season with a 2.27 ERA in September, showing that Sabathia has taken his adjustments from the end of 2016 to 2017. Sabathia has only faced one Pirates batter in his career, David Freese is 1-for-4 with a double, and he is 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA at PNC Park in his career.
