Jordan Montgomery earns first MLB win

by Chris Zolli | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Tue, Apr 18th 8:23am EDT

Jordan Montgomery took a shutout into the seventh inning, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings to earn his first MLB win against the White Sox. Montgomery, who allowed a three-run home run to Yolmer Sanchez in the seventh, struck out four batters and walked two. He has a 4.22 ERA this season and will face the Pirates on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact:

Montgomery has allowed 12 hits in 10 2/3 innings this season, but his 11 strikeouts are impressive for the rookie. He was 14-5 with a 2.13 in the minor leagues last season between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton, including an impressive 0.97 ERA in 37 innings at Triple-A. Montgomery is not yet at the point where he is trusted in all leagues, but his strikeout potential is alluring.
