Luis Severino done in by home runs

by Chris Zolli | Mets Correspondent | Tue, Apr 18th 8:57pm EDT

Luis Severino allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits in eight innings on Tuesday, allowing a solo home run to Leury Garcia and a three-run home run to Avisail Garcia. Severino struck out 10 batters without a walk, pitching at least seven innings for the second consecutive start. He has a 4.05 ERA this season and will face the Red Sox in Boston on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Severino was rolling until Leury Garcia's home run in the third and allowed the three-run home run to Avisail Garcia after Pete Kozma made an error on a double play ball in the seventh; these were really the only blemishes on Severino's record on Tuesday. When evaluating Severino for the future, fantasy owners need to be impressed that he has 26 strikeouts and only two walks in 20 innings this season, posting a 0.80 WHIP. Current Red Sox have a .767 OPS in 51 career at-bats against Severino and the 23-year-old has a 9.53 ERA in 5 2/3 career innings at Fenway Park.
