Masahiro Tanaka mows down White Sox

by Chris Zolli | Thu, Apr 20th 8:26am EDT

Masahiro Tanaka allowed one run on six hits in seven innings against the White Sox on Wednesday. Tanaka struck out six batters and walked two, earning his second win of the season. He has a 6.00 ERA and will face the Red Sox in Boston on April 26.

Fantasy Impact:

While Tanaka has won his last two starts, registering a quality start in each, he is still not fully himself. He has induced more ground balls in each of his four starts, a very good sign for a pitcher that relies on movement and his splitter, but he has walked two or more batters in four consecutive starts to open the season. Current Red Sox have a .636 OPS in 152 career at-bats against Tanaka, but he has allowed 14 earned runs and 30 hits in 29 career innings at Fenway Park.
