Matt Barnes has been fined and suspended four games by Major League Baseball for throwing high and behind Manny Machado's head on Sunday. Barnes has appealed the suspension and will be available until a decision has been made to uphold, reduce, or remove the suspension. (Evan Drellich on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This was expected, as Matt Barnes not only intentionally threw at Machado but threw behind him and up near his head. While he is appealing the suspension, it is likely to stick. Barnes is valuable in leagues that reward holds, as he has settled into the 8th inning role with the Red Sox. He is also the presumed next man up in the event of an injury to Craig Kimbrel.
