Masahiro Tanaka allowed three hits in a complete game shutout against the Red Sox on Thursday. Tanaka did only strike out three batters, but did not walk a batter and only took 97 pitches to earn the shutout. He has a 4.20 ERA and will face the Blue Jays on May 2.

Tanaka has now won three straight starts, posting a quality start in each, and snapped his four-start streak of multiple walks. He only has 22 strikeouts in 30 innings this season, but has increased his ground balls in each start this season, recording 16 ground ball outs on Thursday. Current Blue Jays batters have a .470 OPS in 139 career at-bats against Tanaka, posting only seven extra-base hits and 37 strikeouts.
