Matt Harvey pummeled by Braves during Thursday matinee

by Nick Ritrivi | Fri, Apr 28th 11:59am EDT

Matt Harvey allowed six runs and five walks in just four and 1/3 innings pitched on Thursday in the Mets' 7-5 loss to the Braves. Harvey, who had been pitching well on the season coming into the contest, struggled to break 93 mph on his fastball and had location issues all afternoon.

Fantasy Impact:

Harvey was informed that he would be moved up to pitch on Thursday, instead of his scheduled start on Friday against the Nationals, only three hours before the game. Harvey blamed his poor outing on the fact that he had thrown and weight lifted the day before in preparation for his scheduled Friday start. The Mets, in their infinite wisdom, opted to move Harvey (coming back from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery) up a day when Noah Syndergaard was scratched, despite his having conducted a full workout the day before. Assuming the Mets don't force Harvey to move heavy furniture around CitiField the day before his next scheduled start, in their continuing efforts to cost cut, Harvey should look to bounce back his next time out against Atlanta on the road next week. Fantasy owners should look at this start as an aberration given his prior success this season.
