Jacob deGrom masterful in win over Pirates

by Kevin Black | Rangers Correspondent | Sat, May 27th 1:43am EDT

Jacob deGrom tossed 8 1/3 innings of one-run ball against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday on the way to his fourth win of the year. deGrom allowed six hits in the outing along with one walk. He struck out 10 and the sole blemish on the night was a solo home run to Gregory Polanco in the fourth inning. Most importantly for the New York Mets, deGrom's start gave their bullpen a much needed break.

Fantasy Impact:

This start lowered deGrom's ERA to 3.23 on the season. He is striking out batters at a career pace, as he now has 86 of them over 64 innings of work. However, he is also walking batters at a career rate and surrendering home runs at the highest level of his career. That being said, deGrom is still a high end fantasy asset on the pitching side of things. Use him with confidence in season long league as well as DFS formats.
