Brandon Maurer posts seventh save of season against Cubs Monday

Brandon Maurer pitched one inning allowing no hits, no walks, and striking out one batter during Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs. The effort also earned Maurer his seventh save of the 2017 season.

Maurer has posted an impressive week on the mound, starting with his effort against the New York Mets on May 24th. In four appearances since that date, the 26-year-old Newport Beach Native has allowed just two hits, one earned-run, and no home-runs through four cumulative-innings-pitched. Maurer has now converted seven out of nine save opportunities in the 2017 season.
