Jaime Garcia solid but gets the loss against Phillies Tuesday night

by Steve Painter | Wed, Jun 7th 12:38am EDT

Jaime Garcia allowed eight hits and three runs (all earned) while walking none and striking out four over 7 2/3 innings against the Phillies in Atlanta Tuesday night. Despite the solid effort, Atlanta's offense couldn't get much going against Aaron Nola, who had a spectacular night himself, and the Phillies won by a score 3-1, giving Garcia the loss and a 2-4 record on the season. He will pitch again Sunday against Seth Lugo and the Mets in Atlanta.

Fantasy Impact:

His K/9 sits a shade under six, and his FIP sits at 4.29, but his ERA is a nifty 3.51 and he has earned six quality starts out of 11 opportunities. He is just a steady-eddy contributor that may not possess the most gifted fantasy appeal but should be on watch lists for possible future need.
