Justin Verlander battles but can't find form against Red Sox

by Dan Harris | Astros Correspondent | Sun, Jun 11th 12:59pm EDT

Justin Verlander allowed three runs over five innings on Saturday against the Red Sox. He gave up five hits and walked four, while striking out three. He did not factor into the decision.

Fantasy Impact:

Verlander threw 108 pitches in his five innings, and he admittedly struggled to put away the Red Sox hitters. The good news is that he appears to have come away from the outing without any setbacks with his injured groin, and should be fine to make his next start. Although he's struggled this season (4.68 ERA, 1.48 WHIP), his turnaround from last season remains fresh in everyone's mind, so it's difficult to see not starting him. He will take on the Rays in his next start.
