Noah Syndergaard not expected to throw for another four weeks

by Nick Ritrivi | Thu, Jun 15th 4:25pm EDT

The Mets announced today that Noah Syndergaard is not expected to begin throwing for another four weeks as he recovers from a torn lat. This development certainly extends his timeline to return to the Mets which was originally forecast as a three-month absence in late April. (Anthony DiComo on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

With the news that Syndergaard won't begin throwing until after the All Star Break, his timeline to return gets pushed back from early August to late-August/early-September. As a result, if the Mets fall out of the NL East or NL Wilcard race before then, his return this season will become tenuous. Owners currently handstrung for roster space in re-draft leagues may want to consider cutting ties with Syndergaard if their season is on the brink and viable SP options are available. Dynasty and keeper league owners will need to sit tight however.
