Justin Verlander tosses quality start, struggles with command

by Daniel Knese | Astros Correspondent | Thu, Jun 15th 10:53pm EDT

Justin Verlander came away with a no-decision on Thursday, throwing seven innings of two-run ball. He allowed six hits, walked five, and struck out six.

Fantasy Impact:

Verlander had a decent time throwing strikes, as 64 of his 111 pitches went for strikes, but still managed to walk five batters. He now leads the American League in walks with 42. Verlander's 4.61 BB/9 is easily the worst of his career, and his 4.50 ERA is supported by a 4.49 FIP and 5.20 xFIP. It's tough to bench him because of what he is capable of, but Verlander is extremely tradeable right now. Entertain any offers you get.
