Jason Heyward is out of the Cubs' lineup Monday against the Padres with a hand laceration. Jon Jay is playing RF and batting ninth in his place. (Carrie Muskat on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Heyward suffered the injury Sunday against the Pirates, however it does not sound like a long term problem. Many hoped for a turn around for Heyward after an atrocious 2016 season, however with .258 AVG, six home runs, and one steal he just has not been good enough to have value in standard leagues. His .278 BABIP could indicate that Heyward has been unlucky, but with a meager 18.5% line drive rate and 27.4% hard contact rate show that Heyward is not making good contact when he hits the ball.
