Robert Gsellman shelled in rout against Dodgers

by Nick Ritrivi | Nationals Correspondent | Wed, Jun 21st 7:14am EDT

Another day, another Mets' starter annihilated. On Tuesday night, Robert Gsellman lasted just 4 1/3 innings against the Dodgers allowing seven earned runs (eight total), nine hits, including four home runs, and three walks. The Mets went on to lose 12-0 and, in what was supposed to be a breakout season, Gsellman fell to 5-5 with a 6.04 ERA.

Fantasy Impact:

Gsellman and the Mets' starters are in a downward spiral with no end in sight. Gsellman's horrid start came the night after Zack Wheeler was shelled by this same Dodger lineup. In fact, since the start of June, Mets' starters have posted a 5.87 ERA. Other than Steven Matz and Seth Lugo who are relatively fresh off of the DL, the remaining starters, including Gsellman, have been miserable this month. Gsellman can certainly be dropped in redraft leagues at this point (if he hasn't been already). In dynasty leagues, owners should continue to exhibit patience with Gsellman before cutting bait, although this patience is likely wearing very thin.
