Bartolo Colon, end of the line for him?

by Steve Painter | Thu, Jun 29th 3:00am EDT

Bartolo Colon lasted only four innings against the Padres Wednesday night in what might be his last start as a major leaguer. He allowed eight hits, six runs (all earned), and three walks while recording two strikeouts in the 7-4 Braves loss. With the loss, his record sits at a woeful 2-8 on the year.

Fantasy Impact:

The reason he got the start is that the team went to a temporary six-man rotation for their West Coast road trip and they wanted to give him a chance to show he had something left in the tank. With the emergence of lefty Sean Newcomb, the Braves have almost certainly realized that the $12.5M one-year deal they signed with Colon in the offseason is nothing more than a costly mistake. The fate of the man they call Big Sexy will likely be decided on Monday, an off-day, when manager Brian Snitker has said he will meet with others and reach a decision.
