R.A. Dickey effective over six Saturday
by Steve Painter | Sat, Jul 1st 11:31pm EDT
R.A. Dickey pitched six effective innings against the Athletics Saturday, scattering six hits, allowing one run (earned), walking three while striking out four, leaving the game with a 2-1 lead but ended in a no-decision when the bullpen slipped and let Oakland tie the game in the eighth. The Braves' rallied in the ninth and won by a score of 4-3. Dickey will pitch again Friday against Max Scherzer and the Nationals in Washington.
Fantasy Impact:
Dickey, with his age and junk pitch, aren't appealing to many fantasy owners. But when the weather turns warm and humid, those pitches befuddle many a good hitter. If you're in a deep league and need a fill-in to cover a DL stint, give him some consideration if the match-up and the weather look good.
