R.A. Dickey stellar over seven Friday night

by Steve Painter | Sat, Jul 8th 12:09am EDT

R.A. Dickey pitched seven solid innings against the Nationals Friday night, allowing only three hits, one run (earned), and one walk while recording seven strikeouts. He was in line to earn the win but the Braves bullpen did not secure the 4-1 lead he left the game with, and the Nationals won, 5-4, with a 10th inning walk-off single from Daniel Murphy. Although events prevented a win, Dickey did earn a quality start.

Fantasy Impact:

It was a disappointing loss for the Braves, but Dickey produced a gem over his seven innings. The heat index was sitting at 92 in Washington when he left the game and that represents primetime conditions for his knuckler. If you need someone for a spot start, and conditions are favorable, then give him some consideration.
