Cole Hamels strong Saturday night against Royals

by Steve Painter | Sun, Jul 16th 5:14pm EDT

Cole Hamels pitched 7 2/3 strong innings against the Royals Saturday night, allowing four hits, no runs, and one walk while recording five strikeouts before his exit after throwing 99 pitches. Had he remained for just one more out he would have earned the win, but had to settle for the quality start in the Rangers 1-0 win. He will pitch again Thursday against Wade Miley and the Orioles in Baltimore.

Fantasy Impact:

Hamels has had three strong outings in a row as he looks to regain his form after being injured much of the first half. The Rangers are holding steady as the non-waiver trade deadline approaches but either way, that won't affect Hamels too much, he's not going anywhere. He's healthy and looking to finish the year with some strong outings.
