Carlos Martinez starts the second half with a quality start

by Mike Maher | Cardinals Correspondent | Mon, Jul 17th 12:15pm EDT

Carlos Martinez allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters over seven innings during Sunday's start against the Pirates. The Cardinals went on to lose the game, and Martinez did not factor into the decision.

Fantasy Impact:

Sunday's start was an encouraging one for Martinez as he had given up five runs in both of his previous starts. He should be an upper-tier starter for the rest of the season and offers a 3.36 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 9.7 K/9.
