Jacob deGrom wins his eighth straight start

by Nick Ritrivi | Rangers Correspondent | Tue, Jul 25th 11:28am EDT

Jacob deGrom won his eighth straight start going eight solid innings against the Padres on Monday night in the Mets' 5-3 win. deGrom allowed only five hits, two walks and two earned runs while striking out eight. He improved to 12-3 on the season and became the first Mets' pitcher to win eight straight starts since Bobby Jones accomplished that feat in 1997.

Fantasy Impact:

Over these last eight starts since June 11, deGrom is now 8-0 with a 1.61 ERA (second best in all of MLB among qualified starters), 0.83 WHIP and a 58:12 K:BB ratio in 61 2/3 IP. deGrom is also now just the fourth pitcher in Mets' history to win eight straight starts. In addition to Jones, deGrom joins Tom Seaver (1969) and David Cone (1988) on that short list. deGrom, obviously, remains a must-start fantasy SP1 in all formats while he continues the best pitching stretch of his young career.
