Addison Reed traded to Red Sox, pending medical review

by Mike Maher | Mon, Jul 31st 10:34am EDT

Addison Reed was traded from the New York Mets to the Boston Red Sox, pending a medical review, prior to Monday's 4 PM trade deadline, according to Ken Rosenthal on Twitter. The Red Sox are sending the Mets minor leaguers Jamie Callahan, Gerson Bautista, and Stephen Nogosek in return. (Ken Rosenthal on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Reed has been excellent as a fill-in closer for the Mets while Jeurys Familia has been sidelined, but he will slide into a setup role for the Red Sox in front of closer Craig Kimbrel. This obviously hurts his value in leagues that do not award points for holds but increases his value in leagues that do. Reed has 19 saves to go with a 2.57 ERA and a 8.82 K/9 and should be an excellent upgrade for a Boston bullpen that desperately needed one.
