Brandon Belt remains steady

by Jeff Latka | Wed, Aug 2nd 9:45am EDT

Giants first baseman Brandon Belt went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three runs scored in Tuesday’s 10-4 win over the Athletics.

Fantasy Impact:

Belt is now one home-run away from his career high of 18, which was set in 2015. He’s enjoying a power breakout while simultaneously experiencing a downturn in BABIP, recording a .287 mark in 2017 compared to .334 for his career. His average launch angle this season is almost identical to last year’s (20.9 degrees in 2017 vs. 21 degrees in 2016), however, and he has a higher average exit velocity in 2017 than he did in 2016 (88.1 mph vs. 87 mph). Belt has still been productive from a fantasy perspective despite settling for results that haven’t matched his superior performance. With better luck, he could be in store for a great finish.
