Thyago Vieira was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma Tuesday when the Mariners recalled pitcher Sam Gaviglio from the Rainiers. Vieira, who was recalled on Monday, made his big-league debut that evening, pitching a perfect ninth inning with one strike out in Seattle's 11-3 loss to Baltimore. The 24-year-old right-handed flamethrower has regularly hit triple digits on the radar gun. It is possible he will be recalled when rosters expand in September. Manager Scott Servais said of Vieira, "I thought he handled himself very well.”
