Luis Severino blanks Mets

by Chris Zolli | Mets Correspondent | Fri, Aug 18th 8:06am EDT

Luis Severino allowed one run (none earned) on four hits in 6 1/3 innings against the Mets on Thursday. Severino struck out nine and walked three, bouncing back from a horrific start against the Red Sox. He has a 3.18 ERA this season and will face the Tigers in Detroit on August 23.

Fantasy Impact:

Severino allowed eight earned runs against the Red Sox in his last start, so a bounce back like this was needed. Even with a horrific start against Boston, Severino is still 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings since the All-Star break. He is an elite option every time he pitched and allowed one run in five innings against the Tigers on July 31, striking out eight batters.
