Jean Segura scores winning run

by Robert Finkelstein | Sun, Sep 3rd 2:47pm EDT

Jean Segura went 3-for-5 Saturday evening, hitting a solo shot and two doubles in Seattle's 7-6 victory over Oakland. He also scored twice, including the winning run on a wild pitch with two outs in the ninth inning.

Fantasy Impact:

Segura had been scuffling in his ten games prior to entering Saturday night's gem. He was hitting a poor .136/.191/.159, going 6-for-44 in that stretch, with only one stolen base and zero RBIs. Manager Scott Servais praised the 27-year-old shortstop saying, "He was aggressive on the bases, was driving the ball, made great plays at shortstop. We're a different ballclub when he plays that way. Outstanding game from him today." Perhaps Saturday's performance will jumpstart Segura into playing has he did prior to his recent slump. Segura after all, still has a .302 AVG for the year with 19 stolen bases.
