Justin Verlander pitches out of relief in Game 4

by Brendan Tuma | Astros Correspondent | Tue, Oct 10th 3:04pm EDT

Justin Verlander allowed one run on one hits in 2 2/3 innings of relief on Monday, walking two and striking out zero as the Astros advanced to the ALCS with a 5-4 win over the Red Sox.

Fantasy Impact:

In an unorthodox move, the Astros used their best starter out of relief to take down the Red Sox at Fenway Park. The move initially appeared to backfire, as Andrew Benintendi hit a two-run homer off Verlander as soon as he came in the game. However, the Houston bats rallied and Verlander was able to hold off further trouble. He'll resume starting in the ALCS against the winner of Cleveland and New York.
