Jason Vargas signs with New York Mets

Free agent starter Jason Vargas has agreed to a two-year deal with an option for a third year with the New York Mets, according to multiple reports on Twitter. (Jon Heyman on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Vargas dazzled in the first half of 2017, his first full year after Tommy John surgery, pitching to a 2.62 ERA in the first half. He faded in the second half, however, and posted a 6.38 ERA. The Mets will be hoping to get more of what Vargas posted in the first half, but at the very least he provides a valuable veteran arm to a team that has been decimated by pitching injuries the past few seasons.
