Anibal Sanchez agrees to deal with Minnesota Twins

by Mike Maher | Fri, Feb 16th 6:22pm EST

Anibal Sanchez has agreed to a one-year deal with the Minnesota Twins, according to Twins beat reporter Rhett Bollinger on Twitter. The deal is for $2.5 million but is not guaranteed and is contingent on him making the roster. (Rhett Bollinger on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Sanchez's $16 million option was unsurprisingly not picked up by the Detroit Tigers after the season, and at nearly 34 years old his best baseball may be behind him. His ERA in 2017 was north of 6.00 despite his 8.89 strikeout percentage being his best since 2013, while his fastball averaged 91.2 MPH and has consistently decreased since 2013 when it hovered around 94.2 MPH. He will presumably have the chance to win a spot in Minnesota's starting rotation, but he is unlikely to be relevant for most fantasy owners in 2018.
