Brent Honeywell, who left yesterday's game with pain in his forearm, has been diagnosed with a torn UCL in his pitching elbow. He will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the 2018 season. (Marc Topkin on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This is a devastating blow for the young flamethrower, who was projected to be a contributor at the Major League level at some point this season, if not right from the start. If there's a bright side, and there really isn't, it's that the injury happened now, leaving the chance that Honeywell will be ready for the start of next season. Owners in keeper and dynasty leagues obviously should not do anything rash.
