Mikie Mahtook ready to run with the job

by Andrew Liang | Tue, Mar 6th 11:31am EST

Mikie Mahtook is coming into this season as the projected starting left fielder for the Tigers. He played hurt in 2017 and that might be tied to his aggressive playing approach in the outfield. Mahtook reports that he is ready to play and is going to hold nothing back this year. He is currently hitting .286 through seven games and 14 at-bats. (Chris McCosky, The Detroit News)

Fantasy Impact:

People might not know how hot Mahtook's bat was swinging in 2017. Between June and August, he was hitting .337 with a .386 on-base percentage and a .531 slugging percentage. His current ADP is in the 400's, but he's one to watch or draft for depth. He is projected to bat sixth behind Victor Martinez and Nicholas Castellanos.
