Sean Newcomb strong over 4 2/3 Monday

by Steve Painter | Braves Correspondent | Mon, Mar 12th 11:52pm EDT

Sean Newcomb continued his solid spring Monday, going 4 2/3 innings against the Phillies, allowing no hits, no runs, and no walks while recording six strikeouts. Over 10.2 innings thus far this spring, Newcomb has allowed four hits, four runs, and two walks while recording 12 strikeouts, giving him a 2.53 ERA and a 0.56 WHIP.

Fantasy Impact:

Newcomb is working through his command issues by attacking the zone and not getting overly aggressive like he has done in the past. If he continues with the success he has shown, he offers tremendous upside relative to his rock-bottom cost. That's a big if for him but he has significant talent, certainly enough to offer consistent fantasy production for deeper and NL-only leagues.
