Alex Claudio, who ended the 2017 season as Texas' closer, may not resume that role this season, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports. "He is so much more valuable than just waiting for a save opportunity," manager Jeff Banister said. (mlb.com)
Claudio is in the running still for the closer role but it sounds like the team might prefer him more in a setup role. If Claudio does not win the job expect Keone Kela or Jake Diekman would be the front-runners. Expect an announcement to be made before opening day.
