Brandon McCarthy went six innings against the Tigers Wednesday, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned), and no walks while recording four strikeouts. Over 12 2/3 innings this spring, he has allowed nine hits, three runs (two earned), and one walk while striking out eight. Batters have hit for an average of .196 and his ERA is 1.42 with a 0.79 WHIP.
Fantasy Impact:
The 34-year old is no spring chicken and trusting him to be healthy for the entire year is a stretch, but he has value for spot-starts and maybe a roster spot in deeper leagues.
