Victor Robles will not need surgery on left elbow

Washington Nationals top prospect Victor Robles will not need surgery on his left elbow, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post tweeted Monday night. Manager Dave Martinez didn’t offer specifics but said nothing is torn and his strength is good. The team thought he could miss a full year, but the initial prognosis is months. Fantasy Impact:

This does not necessarily inspire optimism for Robles's 2018 fantasy value, but it is great for his long-term outlook. That he could only be out a few months instead of an entire year and that he will not require surgery are obviously two big updates. It is now not out of the question that Robles could return for a late summer call-up as long as his recovery and rehab go well.
