Kelvin Herrera pitches another stellar non-save appearance

by Waleed Hawatky | Wed, Apr 18th 1:31pm EDT

Kelvin Herrera struck out both batters he faced in a non-save relief appearance in a 5-4 loss to Toronto.

Fantasy Impact:

Herrera continues to be stellar for the Royals, coming in after Kevin McCarthy put runners on the corners with one out in the bottom of the ninth and punching out both batters he faced. Herrera really has been nearly unhittable in very limited action no thanks to the Royals' anemic lineup, working a still pristine 0.00 ERA, 0.43 WHIP with eight punch outs in just 4 2/3 innings. It's hard to justify rostering him despite his quality as he simply doesn't get many opportunities to pitch let alone close out games. Still, quality closers are very difficult to come by and the Royals started last season cold as ice as well before heating up so a hold here is still advisable.
